Transferring from a Technical College

Yohannes Abate and Students in Laboratory

When planning a transfer from an institution in the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), it is important to be aware of some differences from USG institutions. Only academic classes (i.e. classes in the core program for an Associate’s Degree) may be eligible for transfer.  Applied classes, such as classes in computer repair or criminal justice, will not transfer into UGA.

Additionally, only academic courses offered by TCSG institutions that have been accredited by SACSOC (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges) are considered for transfer.

For more information on this policy, see this link. For your convenience, you may find a list of courses here (PDF), and institutions currently SACSOC accredited here (PDF). To be certain of the status of your course, always check the Admissions Transfer Equivalency page. The prefix NTFR indicates that the course is non-transferable.
